National security of supply and global responsibility 

As a logistics company, Nurminen Logistics plays an important role in ensuring Finland’s national security of supply and global supply chains, for example, in global food supply. The rail transport of Nurminen’s subsidiary North Rail enables the continuity of logistical operations that are critical for Finland, as well as global food security that is considered to be critical by the Western community and the UN, and which is dependent on imports in many countries.  

North Rail operates exclusively in Finland and its customers are Finnish companies. Both Nurminen Logistics and its subsidiary North Rail work in close co-operation with the authorities. As responsible operators, Nurminen Logistics and North Rail comply in all their operations with Finnish and European Union legislation, the EU’s joint decisions and sanction orders, as well as the UN and international community’s rules and recommendations. 

Due to its national importance and factors related to the security of supply and safety, Nurminen Logistics is under strict regulation and supervision. As an AEO* operator, Nurminen Logistics Plc is under regulatory control and, in addition, the company has its own strict processes for monitoring its operations. Nurminen Logistics’ subsidiary, North Rail Oy, is also under continuous regulatory control as a holder of a railway operating license. 

Nurminen Logistics and its subsidiary always transport customer-owned goods at the customer’s order, and, in this way, the company’s business has a direct impact on the well-being and employment of Finnish companies.
