Nurminen will arrange five block trains to Beijing, China, from Gävle, Sweden, during the next three weeks. The first train departs from Kotka on December 21.
Nurminen provides 40’HC containers in the newly opened container depot in Gävle, Sweden, where the containers are loaded with cargo and moved to Kotka, Finland by short sea feeder vessel. The train will run via Finland, Russia, Kazakhstan, arriving in 20 days in China, where Nurminen will arrange delivery to the final consignee’s door.

This new route will give the customers in Sweden more advantages compared to the traditional deep-sea route, thanks to the availability of Nurminen empty containers in Sweden, regular short-sea connections to Kotka and Helsinki ports in Finland from where trains can depart directly to China with only one day handling time in port, reaching China in 2-3 weeks depending on final destination.

Nurminen Logistics block train service from Sweden is part of the Nurminen Nordic Hub concept where the company is utilizing the multimodal services and Finland’s excellent logistic location between Asia and Europe. In addition, Nurminen has port terminals equipped with railway connections in Vuosaari and Kotka.
