Nurminen Logistics and Valmet Automotive sign a five-year co-operation agreement

Nurminen Logistics has signed an agreement with vehicle and battery manufacturer Valmet Automotive, which will last until the end of 2025. The agreement concerns the unloading of Valmet Automotive’s consignments arriving at Nurminen Logistics’ terminals in Vuosaari Harbour and their transport from Helsinki to Valmet Automotive’s Salo battery plant.

A significant volume of containers containing battery components arrive at Nurminen’s terminals every day, as well as trucks whose cargo Nurminen unloads and further transports to Salo with several daily full-trailer truck connections. In addition, Nurminen stores Valmet Automotive’s products at its Vuosaari and Kotka terminals, and thereby enables Valmet Automotive to have a buffer stock so that the Salo battery plant will not stop operating even if there are cargo delays.

Nurminen was selected as Valmet Automotive’s partner after a year-long tendering process.

– We are confident in executing orders, as we have everything we need; large terminal facilities, versatile work machines and professional personnel to handle even large volumes. It is great that Valmet Automotive relies on Nurminen’s expertise, says Joonas Louho, VP Cargo Operations at Nurminen Logistics.

– The importance of reliable logistics for our expanding business is constantly growing. We are pleased to have signed a multi-year agreement with a well-known operator in the logistics industry. This supports the operations and growth of our battery business in Finland, says Jyrki Nurmi, Senior Vice President, EV Systems.
