We offer several different routing options to Europe for you to choose from. Our newest route is the southern Trans-Caspian container train route, which comprehensively serves our European customers.

The Trans-Caspian route runs to China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania and from there to all of Europe, both for export and import transport.

Rail transport routes within the Nordic countries and to the world

Nurminen’s Nordic Hub ® service package serves a rail link between the Nordic countries. We operate regularly between Finland, Sweden and Norway. The Nordic rail transport can also be connected to the Asian and European rail networks.

Nurminen’s regular rail link goes from Umeå and Haparanda to Gothenburg, the largest harbor in Europe. The port of Gothenburg offers a direct ocean connection to America and various destinations in the Far East, as well as to the main ports in Europe, from where the shipments can be connected to Nurminen Logistics’ transport route to Central Asia and China. Nurminen also connects Narvik in Norway with regular rail connections to Sweden. 

Connection allows fast access to almost anywhere in the world and freight can be transported in both containers and trailers. Nurminen Logistics offers its customers a complete door-to-door logistics supply chain, including freight forwarding and terminal services.

  • What kinds of goods can be transported by train?

    Just about anything that fits in a 40’ container can be transported as rail freight, from components to cars. We transport both full containers and break-bulk cargo with a weight of more than one thousand kilograms and a volume of more than one cubic metre. Due to official regulations, no dangerous goods, batteries or temperature-controlled products can currently be transported on trains to China.

  • What information do I need to make a reservation?

    We need you to provide us information on the sender and recipient as well as on what kinds of goods you are transporting and when they can be picked up. In addition, we need the commodity code and information on the weight, volume (cubic metres) and number of pieces of the cargo as well as on whether the cargo is stackable.

  • When is it better to reserve an entire container instead of transporting as break-bulk cargo?

    Generally, at 25 cubic metres, or if the weight of the shipment exceeds 15,000 kg, we recommend that you reserve an entire container.

  • What are the advantages to choosing rail freight?

    Rail freight is a good option for longer distances when you are looking for a transport solution that is more affordable than air freight and faster than sea freight. The environmental aspects are a strong argument in favour of rail freight, as it is always the most environmentally friendly option.

  • Do you serve private individuals?

    We provide transport services only to businesses.

  • Why is multimodal transport a good option?

    Multimodal transport refers to the combination of several modes of transport under a single transport contract. By combining different modes of transport, we can tailor the transport solution according to your needs. You can optimise the transport time, price or carbon footprint, for example.

  • Can I purchase only sea freight or road freight service?

    Yes, you can also purchase only sea, road or rail freight without using any other means of transport.
